ESLL League Championships

League Championships are played at the conclusion of the regular season between teams within each division - Majors plays Majors, AAA plays AAA, etc. The seeding of each team at the start of the tournament is determined by the finishing Division Standings at the conclusion of the regular season.

Our League Championships take place over one calendar week with the final Championship game for each Division held on Saturday, June 4th. The tournament is single elimination. The team winning the Division in the ESLL League Championship advances to the Distrcit 7 Tournament of Champions (TOC's), detailed below, and represents East Sac Litttle League amongst the other competing leagues within our District.

Read below for specific details on the rules and guidelines of ESLL League Championships.

ESLL BYLAWS: LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

  1. Majors and AAA baseball shall maintain win/loss records and standings, which shall be used for playoff seeding. Depending on the number of teams, ESLL shall maintain win/loss records and standings for all softball divisions that play an intra-league schedule (i.e. only ESLL teams are included). For any softball division subject to an inter-league schedule (i.e. teams include any D7 softball league) ESLL will not independently maintain standings for such softball divisions. Win/loss records shall not be kept for any other division. No divisions other than Majors and AAA baseball and Majors and Minors softball shall hold playoffs.
  1. The combined number of Majors and AAA baseball teams in the playoffs may not exceed twelve (12) teams due to field capacity. The Majors division is entitled up to six (6) teams in the playoffs. The AAA division is entitled to the remaining number of available playoff teams. The playoff format for Majors and AAA baseball shall consist of the following:
  1. If eight (8) divisional teams, all games are single elimination. See Appendix A for seeding bracket.
  2. If seven (7) divisional teams, the first place team shall receive a first round bye. All games are single elimination. See Appendix A for seeding bracket.
  3. If six (6) divisional teams, the first and second place teams shall receive a first round bye. All games are single elimination. See Appendix A for seeding bracket.
  4. If five (5) divisional teams, the first place team shall receive a first round bye. All games are single elimination. See Appendix A for seeding bracket.
  5. If four (4) divisional teams, all games are single elimination.
  6. If three (3) divisional teams, the first place team shall receive a first round bye. All games are single elimination.
  7. If two (2) divisional teams, best of three series.

Tiebreakers between two teams shall be as follows: (1) heat-to-head record; (2) intra-league record (if interleague play applies); (3) run differential (runs scored minus runs allowed); (4) coin toss.

In all playoff games, the higher seed (No. 1 being the highest) shall be the home team.

The winner of each playoff shall be the Division Champion and shall represent ESLL in the District 7 Tournament of Champions (TOC's) immediately following the season.

District 7 Tournament of Champions(TOC's)

ESLL Majors and AAA baseball teams that win their division in the ESLL League Championship Series advance to the District 7 Tournament of Champions (TOC's) to commence immediately following the conclusion of our League Championships. One ESLL Majors baseball team and one AAA baseball team represent East Sac LL in the District TOC's. District TOC's for baseball begin on Saturday, June 16th.

ESLL teams play other teams within District 7 in a double elimination format tournament over a ten day period. Teams participating in the tournament typically include; Pocket, Tahoe Tallac, Land Park, Airport, Florin, Oak Park and Parkway.

All Stars

East Sac Little League puts forth four All Star teams for District 7 play, comprised of players by League Age as follows: ages 7-8, ages 8-9-10, ages 9-10-11 and ages 10-11-12. The purpose of All Star play is to recognize our most accomplished players, and offer those children the opportunity to continue their baseball season through All Star tournament play against other competing teams in their league age bracket across District 7.

All Star teams are appointed and selected by ESLL Team Managers across our baseball divisions. Please review the Bylaws detailed below for specifics on All Star selection and notification. Players must live within ESLL geographic boundaries, or attend school within our boundaries, and must also play within their age bracket as determined by the Little League Int'l.(LLI) Age Determination Chart.

ESLL BYLAWS: ALL STAR SELECTION

  1. ESLL may select All Star teams for the following age groups: 11-12 baseball, 10-11 baseball, 9-10 baseball, 7-8 baseball, 11-12 softball, and 9-10 softball. The Board may also add a 10-11 softball team should the number of softball players support such an addition.
  1. All Star managers shall be selected by the Board prior to the end of the regular season. Each manager shall select their own coaches from the pool of eligible coaches and managers, subject to approval by the Board.
  1. The 11-12, 10-11, and 9-10 year old All Star teams shall consist of at least 12 players per team. All Stars are announced no earlier than June 1 by Little League rules. Three designated alternates will be chosen and only the Board will keep the record of the alternates. The alternates are not announced and may be utilized at the manager's discretion. Alternates may not practice until needed.
  1. Except as described in Bylaw #72 regarding the first six All Stars for the 11-12 baseball team, All Star selection shall be as follows:

Step 1 - Create the Pools: Prior to the end of the regular season, Division Representatives shall compile a master list of All Star eligible candidates (considering factors such as age, residence, school, etc.) for their respective division. These lists shall be distributed to the managers in the respective divisions.

Step 2 - Selection Meetings: All managers will meet to discuss and vote on the candidates. All managers must come to the meeting prepared to discuss the candidacy of all the candidates and are encouraged to bring their scorebooks to the meeting. For the 11-12 teams, only the Major managers, Major Representatives, and President (baseball) or Vice President (softball) shall attend. For the 10-11 baseball team only the Major managers, Major Representative, and President shall attend. For the 9-10 baseball team, only the AAA managers, AAA Representative, and President shall attend. For the 9-10 softball team, only the Minor managers, Minor Representative, and Vice President shall attend. For the 7-8 baseball team, only the AA managers and AA Representative shall attend. A majority of manager votes for any one candidate will qualify as an All Star selection.

Step 3 - Selection Deadlock: In the event that a majority cannot be reached for the last and final selection of any All Star team (excluding alternates), the approved All Star manager for said All Star team may choose at their discretion the last and final selection.

  1. The 11-12 year old baseball All Stars will be elected in the following manner:
  1. Each Major baseball team player shall vote for six (6) Major players.
  2. Players may not vote for players on their own team.

73. Managers or their designee must attend the All Star selection meeting or waive their right to vote for players. The President shall chair the baseball All Star selection meetings and the Vice President shall chair the softball All Star selection meetings.
